Well I have finally uploaded some pictures from Siem Reap, Cambodia. The girls and I spent all day touring the famous temples with the our ever-smiling tuk-tuk driver. Here are some of the life-changing shots we came up with...

And then there was the celebration that followed. There was of course good music, hence the dancing. And markers throughout, hence our fabulous tattoos.

I, shockingly, fell asleep mid-festivities (my chair was so comfortable!), so my knowledge of the rest of the night is limited. I do believe, however, that it involved one or two marriage proposals, a short Nigerian man, and a lady-boy or two. Oh those girls!

with love,

Off to Vietnam

So today marks our last day in Cambodia - quick trip I know. We are off to meet up with Gatito's parents for 10 days of paradise in Vietnam.

I am having trouble enjoying Cambodia, what with the stomach problems (I knew it would be me!), the constant begging from adorable, dimple-faced children, and the abundance of older white, unattractive males, with young, beautiful Cambodian side parts. Maybe it's my lack of sleep and inability to eat, but something about this place is rubbing me the wrong way. I hope to enjoy Vietnam more! I am sure I will.

Love and miss you all,
Cristina

Happy Birthday Gatito!!

I have arrived to my girls...

Cambodia, Cambodia, I made it! After quite a long, arduous journey I must admit. The border crossing was slightly scary, with people begging for money and old men hassling you for tips. I did get quite the compliment though: "I bet you were a beauty when you were young."WHAT? Am I that old?!? Hahaha.

Of course though as my travel luck would have it, I fell into the hands of a very friendly Korean/Cambodian couple. They pulled me away from the touts, helped me into a cab, and even treated me to lunch! I do have the best luck I must admit.

So now I am with my girls. And Cambodia is beautiful! It is so green and luscious and the temples are nearly 2,000 years old. We rented our own little personal tuk-tuk, which is like a motorbike with a carriage attached to it, and toured the whole town for - get this- 10 bucks total. And our room, for 3 people, 6 bucks! Wahoo. Jackpot.

It already reminds me a lot of Central America. Beautiful trees, friendly people, and an overwhelming sense of poverty. Nothing pulls at my heart worse than little, malnourished children begging for $1 to eat. What a privileged life most of us have lived. Yet these people have so little, yet feel so much. It's truly admirable just how happy they can stay.

Hope to have pictures up soon. The internet is sooo slow here. Please forgive me if I don't respond quickly to emails either. I have like 15 minutes at a time!

Off to celebrate Cat's 25th! Indian food, and 50 cent beers galore!

love,
The Super Mario Brothers
